German Benchmark Brass Crystal Regulator Clock  Mercury Like Pendulum

Benchmark - Regency Model

Limited Edition # 430 of 750

Running and Striking

Item Description

Here is a nice looking Vintage Benchmark Crystal Regulator Clock for your buying consideration.  Would make a great gift for a special occasion or keep for yourself!

This style clock does not come to the market very often. Made by Benchmark of Germany.  This is the Regency Model and is from a limited edition run.  This is #430 of 750 total that were made.

This Vintage Clock is being offered to you at a price below what you would see in a high end auction house or clock shop.  We have been selling clocks out of our home for over 35 years.  We are therefore better positioned to control our acquisition costs, keep commission costs low (if applicable), and finally, we don't have the overhead that the high end auction houses and clock shops experience.

This clock probably dates to the 1980s.  Nice looking case.  A very heavy case on this clock, so, expect the shipping costs to reflect that.  The front and rear doors are on hinges and attached to the clock case. Both doors are still secured well. The side glass pieces are still intact and beveled.  There is no cracking or blistering of any of the beveled glass pieces.

The gold colored brass lacquer finish on the clock shows some minor loss in places.  Most notably on the top of the clock case.  See pics.

Nice tin face with an antique white background with black numbering.  The pendulum has two glass vials that holds some sort of liquid silver material.

Nice brass movement.  On the lower back plate of the movement has SSS with an oval around it.  Fabrik Marke, Prazision-Graham-8Tage, Made in Germany, No (0) Jewels, Unadjusted.  The clock has been running and striking since we acquired it.

The movement is an 8 day movement.  The strike and wind springs are intact.  The clock will come with a wind key.  This is a time, and 2 French bell strike clock.  The strike strikes the 2 bells on the hour and half hour.  Only strikes the two bells once even on the hour.  Not sure if movement was designed that way or not.

The strike bells do need adjusting, as the bells have a dull sound to them when struck.  Not sure if a second spring is needed on the spindle the bells sit on to tighten them up, or say a washer is missing.  This clock is being sold in running, and striking condition.

The clock stands 11.5" tall, by 7-5/8" across, by 6.25" wide.  The clock face is 3.75" across.  Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
The clock was given as a service anniversary award or retirement piece.  A plaque to that effect is attached to the lower front of the clock case.  The Benchmark maker plate is attached to the lower rear base of the clock case.
We are selling this clock in running, and striking condition at this juncture, no warranty intended.  There is no representation that the clock is in original condition, or will continue to be in working order.
The pictures provided both complement and supplement the listing description, so please look at them very closely as well.  With old items, there is no way one can capture all the little imperfections in words, so the two media are meant to be the full description.

As can be expected when dealing with a vintage key wound clock, some adjustments may be needed after shipping to get the clock re-running correctly again as they can be very delicate.  If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, I would suggest you steer clear.  One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art.  They are not our modern plug in and go, or change the battery clocks.  Please ask any questions relating to this matter, before you decide to purchase it.

Make sure that this clock meets your needs and requirements before deciding to acquire it.   The item can be returned, there is a 15% fee of the Item Cost, plus 115% of both Shipping Costs to do so.  So, please carefully review all the attached pictures, ask all the questions you have, come see in person or send a friend to see the item on your behalf, prior to deciding to acquire it.  This clock is very heavy, so expect the packing/shipping charge to reflect that.

The clock will be partially disassembled to more safely ship it to you.  So, expect to have to do some re-assembly.  Don't be shy to make an offer, we are always open to reasonable suggestions!
