 Baldamus was an early ace of the Imperial German Air Service .  In August 1916 he went to Jasta 5 and then in November '16 moved to Jasta 9.  By April 1917 he had 17 confirmed victories and was nearing the mark for being awarded the Pour-le-Merite. However, on 14 April 1917 he collided with a French Nieuport and was killed.
