This is a large bag made from yak hair by the Brokpa people of Bhutan. Yak hair is course and extremely durable and is used in making tents, ropes and bags. This bag was commonly used for carrying goods. It has a shoulder strap and wide opening and measures 14x19”. Note the tassels which were from the tail and often used as fly whisks. I acquired this bag in 1983 and it is in its new original condition having never been used. A piece like this would be hard to find in a Bhutan market today.
