The staple length is up to 6 inches but the very inner coat will break off if pulled on. There is some cotting at the break point. This could be felted further into a nice living rug. 

It has a soft inner coat and coarser outer coat. It is a nice grey. This one is pretty well held together. 

It is quite clean tho there is vegetable matter. It is mostly small vegetable matter in the locks. 

Our fleeces are only lightly skirted, so it is possible to find taggy edges, vegetable matter, a few burrs in the outer coat, etc
