Feature: Interbuild KARRI Hybrid Worktops are made from sustainably sourced, hand selected and highest grade solid wood. Oiled with our unique enviromentally friendly INTERBUILD ZERO % VOC Hardwax Oil, giving a hardwearing smooth finish, tested and approved for contact with Foodstuff.
Originally from Australia, ranked number 2 among all ''Aussie Reds'' redwoods, close behind Jarrah. Used more than 100 years ago in Australia for railway sleepers etc. Very heavy with 900 kg/m3 dry density. This slab weighs 33 kg compared to the same size in Acacia, which weighs 22 kg or pine which would weigh about 17 kg.
It is important to note that Karri should be treated with wood oils that are approved for food contact, such as INTERBUILD's Hard Wax Oil.
For the first month, the oil should be applied weekly until water splashed on the surface settles as droplets and is not absorbed into the wood. Once this has been achieved, simply oil as needed when the surface looks dry to maintain the wood surface.
Karri can be sawn, routed, drilled, etc. with standard woodworking tools.
Karri worktops are easy to maintain alternatives to granite, stone or laminate worktops and can be used for food preparation. Use cutting boards on top to avoid wear and tear.
The warmth of the red wood charcoal and the clean wood smell of the worktops with their solvent-free oil, are greatly appreciated by our customers after installation.
The countertops come with very detailed instructions on installation, care and maintenance, which are considered the best instructions on the market, by many professionals in the industry.
