Goebel Sacrart Saint Francis of Assisi Figurine

'Sacrart' Goebel figures are actually made by the same people who make Hummels. If you enjoy collecting Hummels or Goebels, you will likely enjoy collecting Sacrart.

This 'Sacrart' figurine is a depiction of Saint Francis of Assisi preaching to the birds. St. Francis is shown wearing the brown habit of the Franciscan order with 4 birds listening to his preaching. St. Francis was an Italian mystic, poet and Catholic friar who founded the religious order of the Franciscans. He was inspired to lead a Christian life of poverty as a beggar and itinerant preacher.

The figurine is crafted in porcelain and hand painted with careful attention to details. It measures 10-1/2" tall including the base x 3" wide x 3" long. The figure is 4 inches wide and its widest point (across the arms). The underside is marked with a blue-stamped TMK-2 Large Bee in the V trademark. Made in Germany. TMK-2 pieces were produced circa 1950-1954.

In very good vintage condition. No cracks, no fissures, but has a very small area of crazing on the glossy base, between the bird and St. Francis’ right foot. Displays wonderfully.
