- ONE TEA CUP AND SAUCER SET

 produced in the GLAMIS THISTLE pattern H4601 by the Royal Doulton factory and signed P Curnock.

 PERCY CURNOCK (1873-1956) was probably Doulton's longest serving artist, entering the factory in 1885 at the age of 12 and retiring in 1954 aged 81. He specialized in floral painting, especially roses, and landscapes using flat wash colours. Curnock apprenticed at Doulton Pottery and studied at the Burslem School of Art where he met Edward Raby, Fred Hancock and David Dewsbury and was influenced by their artistic style. He trained under John Slater and Robert Allen, becoming a premier artist for Doulton.
