—————-

A very nice and rare Jens Quistgaard staved cane (bamboo) and teak ice bucket from Dansk Designs. In great condition for its age and materials.

Circa 1960 and only made for a couple of years, apparently due to manufacturing problems combining the bamboo with teak wood. Hard to find survivors with all of the bamboo staves (actually veneer) intact and tight.

This one is in very good shape with just a few minor issues, none of which detract from its display value. All are seen in the last few photos.

- Two areas of bamboo are slightly darker than surrounding areas.

- A couple of staves have small gaps of 1 mm or less, very common for this design. All are solid.

- There is a small split in the liner plastic at the handle of 0-2 mm wide and less than an inch long. Also not uncommon in this item.

- The liner has micro scratches from prior use. Will not affect usability.

All of these issues are common in this particular Dansk Denmark ice bucket. It still displays beautifully.

One of Jens Quistgaard’s few experiments in design and materials engineering that did not exactly pan out, but still looks great today. The interlocking lid and interior post handle is especially intriguing.

Thanks for looking!
