.Seleya originally popped up on Tomlab in 2001. At the time, it was a sleeper success story, with press and public alike - or at least those who knew it existed - praising the emotional depth and simplicity of these tone-based arrangements. Largely focused on loops created with pedals rather than modern DAW production platforms, due to the era in which it was made, it's an impressive example of patient music making that sounds as though it was born from a far more efficient way of working. Whether it's ambient or drone, or something different entirely, the limitations of the time make the whole thing feel very different to compared with records today. It's a lo fi, imperfect adventure through refrains, layers and floating harmonies which could well have lost some of its essence had it emerged in the period after advancements such as Ableton Live.
