This is for an original ticket stub from the September 12
1998 football game played between the Michigan Wolverines and Syracuse Orange
at Michigan Stadium. On this day, over 111,000 spectators would see a then
unknown Tom Brady throw his first college TD pass, a 4 yard toss to Tai Streets,
to put the Wolverines on the board after Donovan McNabb and Syracuse jumped out
to a 24-0 lead. Not really a fairy tale story as Brady would be replaced by
Drew Henson who would lead Michigan to 21 straight points before falling short
to the Orange 38-28. Everything has to start somewhere, and this would be the
first of an amazing 714 TD passes that Tom Brady would throw in college and the
pros, 35 at Michigan and 649 in the NFL to make his number not just a record,
but a Ruthian record. This ticket should be regraded as “authentic” rather than
wanting a number, but at least you know it’s the real deal. As you can see, the ticket has definitely seen
some better days, but it is also the start of an incredible career by the one
everyone calls the greatest to ever play the position.
