Original Antique Postcard – Fedák Sári & Medgyaszay Vilma in János Vitéz (c.1905)

This striking hand-tinted postcard features two of Hungary’s most iconic early 20th-century actresses: Fedák Sári and Medgyaszay Vilma. They are shown in costume from the beloved Hungarian operetta János Vitéz, based on the epic poem by Sándor Petőfi.

• Published ca. 1904–1905

around the time of the operetta’s premiere at the Népszínház (Folk Theatre) in Budapest.

• Photographed by Lipót Strelisky, a well-known Hungarian portrait and theatrical photographer.

• Marked as part of his No. 376 series.

Reverse reads “LEVELEZŐ-LAP” – Hungarian for “postcard”.

• Unposted, divided back.

• Printed in Austria-Hungary.
