CAPTAIN KIDD PIRATE SHIP TIN BATTERY OPERATED IN BOX W/ INSERTS WORKS JAPAN 50s. Here is a not often seen battery operated toy called Captain Kidd Pirate Ship. This is a big tin toy, it is 13 inches long. It is in excellent condition with very light wear. The back ends of the ship may have been lifted by some child way back when. The plastic housing that holds the roll cap mechanism is like new as well as the cap mechanism. The toy works but, you need to use strong fresh batteries. Today's batteries fit but very snug you should use rechargeable batteries or non Alkaline since they are just a bit smaller. Weaker batteries may work but, I have found that the toy stops and needs to be tapped to go again. It has mystery action and smokes with roll caps. The caps make a bang sound and smoke comes out the 4 cannons. The caps needed have holes to grab onto the feed wheel, I don't have them so, I just pull them through and they work. I will provide an old box of 250 shots, no guarantee they will work due to age. The plastic sail is not original. Has the original rod that holds the sail. The dragon in front is mint. A light in the back shows a silhouette of the pirates. The box is complete with the cutouts on the side that were never cut. The box has wear, tears and tape and pushed down some on top somewhat. It does have the main cardboard insert and a smaller insert. Made Yonezawa Japan. Real neat hard to find battery operated toy. Please check out my other vintage toys from my 30 year collection. Please ask any question that you may have. Thank you, Dave
