Up for sale here is this rebuild kit for the Sansui AU-717 (or AU-710) amplifier.  This includes all the parts you need to rebuild a Sansui AU-717 or AU-710, including four new main filter capacitors.  This is the normal rebuild kit, with capacitors that have the same capacitance and the same or improved voltage ratings.  I also offer a "Plus Ultra" rebuild kit for the AU-717, which has some exciting capacitor changes.

This kit includes replacements for all other electrolytic and tantalum caps, a new relay, replacements for most transistors and many diodes, replacements for the fuse resistors, and replacements for the 2SA798 dual transistors.  This does not include replacement driver or output transistors.  If you need to replace the outputs (not recommended unless they are blown), you can use two MJ21195G (replaces 2SA747) and two MJ21196G (replaces 2SC1116), available herePlease do not buy any of the 2SA747 and 2SC1116 transistors available on eBay--these are almost all modern Chinese fakes, and can damage your equipment.

Before we go any further, a note on the AU-717:
The Sansui AU-717, like other Sansui gear from its time, has glue on a lot of the circuit boards, which was used to glue down the larger capacitors.  This glue, over time, will corrode the leads on some of the parts, and it all needs to be removed as part of a restoration.  This is a tedious and annoying process, and involves either acetone-soaked cotton balls, a lot of scraping, or both.  Any parts damaged by the glue will need to be replaced.  This kit includes replacements for the parts commonly damaged by glue, but you may need to track down some other resistor replacements.  Do not skip on removing the glue--this is extremely important.

These are all high-quality brand new genuine parts, the same ones I use when I rebuild vintage equipment.  Capacitors are Nichicon PW, Nichicon KL, Nichicon Muse, Panasonic FC, Panasonic film, Wima film, and 4 Kemet 15k uf 63v filter capacitors.  Transistors are made by Onsemi and Toshiba, and the relay is a new Omron relay.  There are two mini adapter boards and two SMD dual transistors to replace the two 2SA798s. You will need to assemble these, so you'll need either a very fine-point soldering iron tip and very thin solder, or you'll need SMD-working equipment.  Or you can skip that step.

This kit includes a total of 227 parts.  This is a very full rebuild kit--it is MUCH more complete than anything else out there.  This took me a long time to develop, and I am very proud of it.

This is not a quick and easy rebuild.  It will take a decent amount of time and effort.  The instructions will explain how everything goes in, but will not cover how to disassemble your amplifier.  This is a complicated job, so if you do not have a lot of experience with vintage gear you should not start with this one.  You should know what you're doing and have a decent soldering iron, a good desoldering tool such as the Hakko FR-301, and a dim-bulb tester with 75W or 100W incandescent bulb.
