This example was inscribed to Nicola Fowles, an African American woman living in Los Angeles during the 1930's - 70's who was a WPA costume artist, a civic activist and was married to one of the few African American soldiers KIA in theatre during WWII. Nicola was also an officer in an Los Angeles 'authors group' and readers rountables during the 1960's. (we handled her larger archive some weeks prior)
