This is not a cliche CD, nor is it a cheapo multi-CD set with 100 tracks for $5 that some label has thrown together without regard for audio quality. What you WILL find on “JIM REEVES: THE VOICE OF THE NASHVILLE SOUND” is a shrewdly culled selection of 26 of Jim’s finest (and in some cases rarest and even unreleased) vocals that have been beautifully updated with new backings by big league pro musicians in Nashville and Europe. And his incomparably rich voice has been expertly remastered for outstanding clarity and warmth. On these tracks, Jim truly comes alive!

AS A BONUS, hear a historic, previously unheard demo of Jim singing “Am I Losing You” in the new, more intimate style which represented a turning point in his career. He wrote the song for his Hollywood publicist lady friend, Bea Terry, who implored him to forsake the raw, hillbilly style in favor of a softer, close-to-the mic technique. (The demo he sent her is on this CD!)

Another highlight is a NEW overdub of “I Fall To Pieces” of which David Allan of Country Music People magazine writes that aside from Patsy Cline’s original, “I have never heard a better version. Inspired!.” This new version features singer Kenzi Wetz of the Grand Ole Opry singing a duet with Jim.

As to the other songs, he comments, “the production is contemporary, technically impressive and hugely enjoyable. It really is quite extraordinary, and at times breathtaking, how [Jim has been brought] up to date without losing the unique Reeves appeal.”

Jim was an innovator, many years ahead of his time. Flouting convention, he pursued his higher notions about music and became THE artist who was the leading progenitor of the smooth, “Nashville Sound,” with which he scored many worldwide hits. It was a style that achieved an easy, tensionless feel, that abandoned the scratchy fiddles and twangy steel guitars in favor of more sophisticated arrangements that borrowed heavily from the pop stylists, both vocally and instrumentally.

Don't miss this unique CD with its superb new sound!
