1879 footnotes were approved by first Presidency to be added to Book of Mormon printing 1888. These footnotes show North America locations and South America. Most of these footnotes were removed with the 1920 Book of Mormon printing. 1879 footnotes were approved by Brigham Young, John Taylor, Orson Hyde, Willard Woodruff, Orson Pratt, and Parley Pratt. All these Apostles new Joseph Smith personally.
