Here we have a gorgeous, excellent quality Bakhtiari or Turkish rug or prayer mat. Firstly, this isn't my area of expertise so please read the full description and more importantly examine the photos for what you shall receive. I believe this is a handmade, hand knotted piece made from silk and wool. It is extremely soft to the touch giving it a lovely feel. It has a real arabesque style to it with vibrant, traditional colours, predominantly red with lots of blues showing symmetrical medallion and floral motif designs. It is quite a small rug/mat which measures approximately 39.75 inches long (44 including the fringe) by 25.25 inches. It is quite a thin pile and weighs around 550g. In terms of age, I would think somewhere between the 1970's-90's. Lovely warm, homely feel, a perfect item for any country house or Boho inspired interior.
