Presented for your consideration, a unique Debra Hays Floral (North Perth, Australia) “Pansy Vase” Made in England.
Debra Hays Floral
Graduating with a fine arts degree Debra Hays initially pursued journalism but those efforts didn’t quite see fruition. From Hays’ earliest recollections she had always loved gardens and flowers hence with renewed vigour she concentrated her energies upon a career in floristry. Mostly self taught she launched “Manic Botanic” in 1994. The early days of Manic Botanic were fraught with weeks of meager sales but undaunted she persisted and the business incrementally grew and became renown for its unique aesthetic and superior customer service. After 17 years Hays sold her beloved shop. Finding retirement not her cup of tea she launched Debra Hays Floral in 2019. A quote on her business card reads: “Stretching his hands out to catch the stars he forgets the flowers at his feet” — Jeremy Bentham. Similar to others that have fallen under the spell of flowers Hays’ passion for flowers is inexorable, a constant companion for life.
Listing Description
A very unusual vessel, this “Pansy Vase” is the perfect vase to display a line of colourful pansies or violas with there inherently short stems. Really almost any flower’s stem could be cut very short and arranged in this playful yet elegant boat-like vase. A departure from the norm, generally these pansy vases are created in a ring-like shape. Stunning as a minimalist arrangement down the center of the dining table or just about anywhere. Created in England these durable stoneware vases are glazed in a fairly matte sublime periwinkle blue. The exaggerated low profile is subtly ribbed horizontally lending texture to an otherwise austere form. Both ends terminate in soft faceted points. The vessel is stamped with”1316” and “MADE IN ENGLAND” in the still moist clay body prior to firing. For those that collect vintage floral vases and tools this unusual vessel is a great piece to add to one’s collection. Preowned yet in good vintage condition, no chips, cracks nor repairs. Expect the barest of wear commensurate with age and usage but nothing that significantly impacts either the aesthetics or the functionality of this very unique vase. Limited production and now a retired piece. *Photographs #1 and #12-#23 depict the vase with violas from the garden to illustrate use and are NOT included in this listing.
