Rare Vintage Stanley No 8 Type 2 Jointer Plane, 1869-72 As Found INV18162

Here we have an early, rarely seen, Stanley No 8 type 2 plane. The blade assembly appears original though I haven’t cleaned it to look at the logo. Japaning is 90% or so. Normally I don’t like to sell planes that are in this condition because the patina can hide faults but in this case I thought it best to let the buyer determine hoe it should look. Tote and knob are nice but each has an issue. The tote has a small chunk missing on the horn while the knob is slightly cracked but unbroken. Blade is dang-near used up. Beyond that it looks solid. I wiped it down to take the dust off and don’t see any obvious pitting. Solid brass knob and the lever cap with the flat spring. I’d say it is in very good condition. Please see the pictures.
