THE GIVING TREE

Author/Illustrator:  Shel Silverstein
Harper & Row, 1964
First edition, unknown printing

Hardback with dust jacket. First edition, possible first printing but unknown without the price. Measures approximately 7.25 x 9 inches. Previously owned and in very good condition. Contains all the first edition points except for the price, which has been clipped. Dust jacket has a 0964 code on front flap and three reviews on the back flap for Lafcadio by Kirkus, New York Times, and Publisher's Weekly. Photo on the back shows a younger Shel Silverstein with hair (looking somewhat sinister). Photo measures 4 x 7 inches. Publisher's page has a four line colophon without ISBN number.

Dust jacket has light wear with a little fading and a 0.25 inch tear on the back flap. Front flap is clipped top and bottom. Jacket is in a new protective Brodart cover.

Boards have light rubbing on the spine ends, but are otherwise in excellent condition. Spine is intact; just a little loose at the top. Title page has the name Mary on the top corner and then a whited out line. Light soiling on a couple of pages. No rips or bends. No funky odors. Light to mild overall wear. Very good readable or collectible condition.

Notes about Shipping

Media Mail is a cheap, viable option for shipping. However, because it is cheap, it is slower than other choices. Based on customer response and tracking, it seems as if destinations along the east coast take between 3-7 days. Destinations on the west coast take approximately 10-14 days. Hawaii and Alaska take a minimum of one month. You can estimate the delivery time based on how far you are from NYC. Remember, there are no guarantees on delivery time. If you need something in a timely manner, please use Priority.

Signature Tracking

Purchases over $150 are usually sent with Signature Tracking. This means someone will have to sign for the package upon receipt. I do this to try to avoid package theft; however, I recognize it can be inconvenient for people who are not at home. Please consider providing a work address, if appropriate. Or, if you know delivery will be secure--like a mail locker--you can tell me not to use Signature Tracking. Please note: eBay mandates that orders of $750 or more must have Signature Tracking.

Problems

If there are any problems with your order, please contact me. I try to work things out with all of my customers to make sure everyone is as happy as possible with their purchase and experience.
