The TV powers and illuminates with no difficulty. The tracking actively attempts to synchronize with a signal. Because I live in a somewhat rural area, TV signals cannot be picked up without a tall, rotatable house antennae which was removed from my house years ago. Because of this, I do not know if this portable TV works or not. You should assume it does not work just to be safe. The unit's telescoping antenna works just great with no bends or kinks. It has a folding stand in the bac for angled viewing and an ear-phone jack as well. It operates on 4 standard "AA" size batteries (not included) but can be powered off a male-plugged 6v power supply (not included). The battery compartment is clean and free of any battery acid leaks.
