About The Winged Victory Release
In 2025, The Perth Mint commemorates the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. This pivotal event in global history is honored every year on VP (Victory in the Pacific) Day held on August 15th. The day serves as a powerful reminder of Japan's acceptance of the allied demand for unconditional surrender on August 14th, 1945. The coin's reverse presents a powerful portrayal of Goddess Nice as Winged Victory. Her muscular figure, symbolizing strength, stands with ethereal, feathered wings out in full glory. She clutches a sword in her right hand, as a gesture of respect and a palm wreath in her left, signifying her role as the messenger of victory.
