These tomahawk axe heads were hand forged in India for the British prior to 1775. They were exported to colonial North America and sold throughout NY and VA. Most were used by the Royal Navy and Army during the French & Indian Wars. When the Revolutionary War began in 1775, sales by British merchants in America stopped. The India maker put his remaining inventory of heads into storage for nearly 250 years, preserved in grease. Originally, the handles were made of Rosewood and these new Rosewood handles are exact copies mounted with 18th century hand forged heads.
