The Lune Valley, north of Lancaster in October 1939. "Coronation" class 4-6-2 No. 6239 "CITY OF CHESTER" has a full head of steam as it powers northwards with an express for Glasgow.
"CITY OF CHESTER" was one of the last locomotives to appear in the red and gold livery, entering service shortly after the outbreak of World War II. It was painted black in 1943 and un-streamlined in 1947.
Beautiful picture framed in an A4 (30 x 21 cm, 12 x 8.3 inch) size frame.
The picture offered does NOT have the "SAMPLE" watermark!!
