20 OFFICE OF NAVAL INTELLIGENCE (O.N.I.) MANUALS
You are bidding on a DVD-ROM containing HIGH-QUALITY PDF SCANS of 20 Office of Naval Intelligence (O.N.I.) manuals from the WWII era. These manuals describe most of the individual ships and aircraft were used in WWII from the principal countries involved in the conflict - Germany, Japan, the U.S., Britain, France, Italy, and others. It is a wonder that this information could have been assembled at all, especially with all the aerial photos of the ships and photos of German warbirds. Many of the photos are crude. I have hand-edited every page of each of these manuals to restore them as much as possible to their original depth and detail. Some of the manuals have several versions. This is due to the fact that the manuals were updated and different copies have different pages. For instance, one version of the German Navy manual has a color section of German Naval uniforms and insignias that are not included in the other manuals. Sometimes an original copy was in terrible condition and largely unrestorable, but contained information not found elsewhere. There is a full-text index across all these manuals. You can do a search for "Stuka" and find every place these vertical dive-bombers was mentioned (two manuals). There are two folders of additional manuals - Army field manuals on identification, and manuals on Army Air Forces manuals on aircraft identification. Scans have been made at 400 lpi. Color pages have been scanned in color (most of the manuals are B&W). Care is been taken to preserve the halftone images wherever possible. Some of the original photos had terrible lighting and could not be restored, but most of them admitted of some improvement.
