[Photography] : [Japanase-Americana]

[Seattle, Washington?]: [ca. 1930's]

27 sepia-toned silver print photographs. Loose. Dimensons range from about 6" x 4 1/2" to 5" x 3 1/2." All about fine.

Performative photographs capturing a group of young men of Japanese ancestry engaged in ribald or humorous poses. The scenes themselves are uncommon for typically-serious Japanese photography and frequently seen athletic shirts with a bold "KC" logo, coupled with our sourcing of these from a Seattle-area estate buyer, suggests to us these may be capturing Japanese-American students in one of many of the Japanese-language schools active in King County, Washington and its immediate environs during the first half of the 20th Century.
