Here we have a gorgeous hand crafted folk art wooden box. I know very little about this, it came from a local house clearance (Anglesey, N.Wales). It is of excellent quality with so much intricate detail. I would think this is likely Scandinavian but wouldn't be surprised if it was Russian/Soviet. It is decorated with a rooster/chicken and floral theme. Each carved detail has a metal (brass I think) almost wirework inlay which is superb. There are many different techniques/skills used in making this piece. I love the textured folk art 'notches' behind the chicken that really emphasise the focus on the bird. Unknown age but I would estimate this to date from around 1920-1940. This has so much character and would make a lovely addition to a country home, it's a perfect storage box for a nick nacks in a farmhouse kitchen. This measures approximately 6.75 inches by 4.75 inches by 2.5 inches. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
Please see my other items where I have quite a few similar boxes listed for sale amongst many other decorative antiques and interesting items.

Import duties; sometimes there will be a charge, I think this is mainly charged on high value items, this is something that the Government enforces to which I have no control of. I declare the value of the parcel as the price the item sold for plus shipping costs.
