Bolt shims and head spacing.

On rimmed cartridges, such as the 17 HMR, .22 LR, and 22 Mag, the headspace is measured off the thickness of the cartridge rim. The tighter the headspace, the more consistent the cartridge will be positioned in the chamber, and the more consistent it will ignite the powder. Accuracy is a direct by-product of consistency and repeatability.

According to the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturing Institute, better known as SAAMI, the .22 Long Rifle cartridge rim thickness is .043″-.007″. That means that any rim that measures between .036″ and 0.43″ is within spec. That is a big difference.

If a rifle was chambered to the maximum .051″ headspace and you are shooting factory ammo that comes in at the lower end of the .036″ rim thickness, you will have .015″ worth of “space” for your cartridge to move during the firing process.

You can measure the thickness of the ammo you are shooting with a caliper. You are also able to just put a shim in and see how it groups. If it is worse swap the shim for a different one and try again.

It is as simple as removing the bolt, taking it apart. Inserting the shim or shims and trying the next group. An instruction sheet with links to videos you can pause and move at your own pace.

The shims are made with DC01/CS4 mild steel.

Tightening up the headspace using bolt shims is the most affordable way to improve the accuracy of your CZ-457 rifle. This modification will tighten your groups and make your rifle more consistent shot to shot.

The CZ and Brno platform is a great rifle set up. If you have a 22lr. 17 HMR or a 22WMR. These shims will work.

PEOPLE USING THE SHIMS HAVE REPORTED THAT THE DREDERED MISS FIRE WHEN USING ELEY AMMO HAS STOPPED. 

Add these shims to your CZ & Brno bolt to tighten up your head space.

You can use spare shims in any other CZ & Brno rifles you have.

This is a self-install product. If you are not confident in doing this, please get a gun smith to fit them for you.

It really is not that hard. If you are shooting benchrest, target shooting, pest control, plinking or just having fun. All while wanting a cheap and affective way to accurize your rifles, this is going to be right up your ally.

They can work on any of the CZ & Brno actions listed. That is .22 LR, 22 WMR and 17 HMR. The internal diameter of the shims are .610 inches (15.494mm). The external diameter is .690  inches. (17.526mm)
