Description :

This cover was mailed to a passenger via the Fleet Post Master of the Bull Lines ship from New York to Florida. Using two Sc# 905 stamps, it was canceled with a CDS from Saint Louis, MO dated 10/15/1945, tied by a slogan cancel “Address your mail to Street and number”. The cover was returned to the sender with these purple markings:

·       Do not use this envelope or wrapper again

·       Refused by carrier - the # 2428

4    Pointing Hand - return to sender – Refused New York, New York

Additionally, there is a faint grey marking from Bull Lines:

·       Return to sender – Not on ship named – Request New Address - Bull Steamship Lines.

The back has a receiving machine cancel from New York, Station P (DPO 1930-1947) dated 1/15/1946. The cover was partially opened on the right side.
