Class-Leading Mic Amps
The SSL 2 Plus MKII is equipped with two high-performance SSL-design microphone preamps delivering a massive 64 dB gain range, in conjunction with a class-leading 116.5 dB dynamic range and -130.5 dBu EIN.
Professional-Grade Outputs
The rear of the SSL 2 Plus MKII features four balanced outputs for studio monitors, rackmount kit, and FX pedals. With professional-grade outputs and a 120 dB dynamic range, it captures every detail.
Dual Headphone Outputs
The SSL 2 Plus MKII features independent headphone outputs conveniently located on the front panel. These re-engineered outputs (high-current NJM headphone amps) are capable of driving any type of headphones.

The SSL 4000 series consoles (often referred to as '4K') are renowned for imparting a unique 'mojo' to sounds and instruments that pass through them. This mojo comes from multiple stages of harmonic distortion from compressor VCAs, VCA faders, and other crucial components such as the transistor mix amps. Using modern components, SSL has developed a circuit that distills the two essential characteristics of the 4K sound into a single design. Input Channels 1 and 2

  • +48V: This switch enables phantom power on the combo XLR connector, which will be sent down the XLR microphone cable to the microphone.
  • Line: This switch changes the source of the channel input to be from the balanced Line input.
  • Hi-Pass Filter: This switch engages the Hi-Pass Filter with a cut off frequency at 75Hz with an 18dB/Octave slope.
  • LED Metering: 5 LEDs show the level at which your signal is being recorded into the computer. Scale markings are in dBFS.
  • Gain: This control adjusts the pre-amp gain applied to your microphone, line-level source or instrument.
  • 4K: It injects a combination of high-frequency EQ-boost, together with some finely tuned harmonic distortion to help enhance sounds.

Monitoring Section

  • Mix: This control directly affects what you hear coming out of your monitors and headphones.
  • Green USB LED: Illuminates solid green to indicate that the unit is successfully receiving power over USB.
  • Monitor Level: This control directly affects the level sent out of Outputs 1 (Left) and 2 (Right) to your monitors.
  • Headphones Outputs: Phones A and B allow for two sets of headphones to be connected, both of which can be configured to allow independent mixes for artists and engineers.
  • 3 and 4 Button: When unselected, Headphones B will receive the same mix as Headphones A (DAW Outputs 1-2). Engaging this button sources Headphones B from DAW Outputs 3-4
