Standard Horizon HX890E is a handheld VHF device with GPS capability allowing you to transmit your co-ordinates in a DSC distress call or navigate to a waypoint.
This easy to operate device is buoyant and upon contact with
water the radio's strobe light will automatically activate to allow the user to
recover the device more easily. No matter whether the device is powered on or
off this function will helpfully activate.
Standard Horizon HX890E Key Features
Durable Design The HX890E is engineered to be rugged and reliable, and innovative. The rounded case designed provides easy front panel operation whilst meets a professional grade construction for operation in harsh environments. Additionally, the HX890E is able to float and designed to survive submersion with an IPX8 water resistant rating - allowing the handheld to be in 1.5m for up to 30 minutes and remain operational.
Calling Functions This Standard Horizon VHF handheld is capable of Digital Selective Calling (DSC). Through Class-H operation, this handhel permits continious reception of DSC functions on channel 70, concurrent with reception of radio calls on the audio channels.
Group Monitor is another calling feature of the HX890E, as it utilises the Digital Selective Calling (DSC) of the handheld to Group Call and Auto Position Polling to display group member locations.
Extended Range This HX890E marine VHF extends their range to a full 6W of transmit power. However, to maximise battery life there are selectable 2W and 1W settings.
GPS Receiver The HX890E has a built-in integrated 66 Channel WAAS GPS receiver. The device is able to log positions that enables the recording and logging of GPS location information at periodic intervals.
Distress Alert Upon activation, the distress alert transmits the latitude and longitude of a vessel. This VHF handheld is able to transmit and receive DSC distress messages.
Also, the HX890E features a water activated strobe light that will turn white when in contact with water. This feature assist with locating the radio in low light conditions and even operates even when the radio is off! Another key emergency feature is the Man Overboard (MOB) location recording capability, enabling the position to be reported for navgiation of the exact location.
Display The HX890E has a large full-dot matrix display, with wide digits and bold information flags to improve visibility in any conditions. Also, the Selectable Display Mode enabling Day and Night mode allows improved visibility at night, by inverting the black and white dots of the display from the Day mode.
Navigation Waypoint navigation allows the HX890E to set 1 to 30 waypoints to create a new route and store up to 250 waypoints for navigation using the compass page. The compass page screen enables overall positioning at glance as well as indicates distance and direction to the destination.
