Beautiful creteceous ammonite fossil specimen in matrix from the Fox Hill Formation located in South Dakota, USA. It is a Scaphites species and is approx 70 million years old. It has been carefully prepared to show good detail and preservation and even has polished matrix in places (see pictures). A great addition to any collection !
Specimen measures approx 9.5cm x 7.7cm x 6.5cm, with the ammonite itself approx 7cm in diameter.
