This original 16" x 20" acrylic painting on canvas by Rob Ijbema was completed in the early 2000s. The painting has been framed by a gallery and is ready for the home. The frame measures 22" x 26" and is in very good condition with only light wear.
There is a small indentation in the eye area of the riding mechanic. The canvas is not broken and it is difficult to notice, but it is there. A picture was taken of the front and back for review. Numerous pictures were taken to assist with the content and condition of the painting.
The painting features Georges Boillot driving a Peugeot at the French Grand Prix in 1913. The Grand Prix was held on July 12th using public roads and consisted of 29 laps or 569.85 miles. Georges Boillot won the race for the second year in a row. Jules Goux and Jean Chassagne completed the podium.
The artist, Rob Ijbema, was born in Amsterdam in 1961 and currently resides in Wales, United Kingdom. He paints mostly with oils and acrylics in an impressionistic style. Ijbema started as an accomplished modeler and now paints subject matter related to motorsports and cycling.
