Vintage Old Royal Bone China England Tea Cup and Saucer

Sampson Smith Ltd. Stoke On Trent Wild Rose Pattern

Circa 1930-1941

Registration #: 7814

This cup is really pretty and refined with a lovely graduated shading of the yellow around the rim and into the interior of the cup, with the handle in a light pastel pink that is also graduated from the saucer and the bottom of the cup. The motif is wild roses in pink, yellow, and purple. The cup shape also has a fluted rim, and the handle is very delicate.

This cup and saucer was made between 1930-1941 by Sampson Smith Ltd. of Stoke-on-Trent in the Potteries, the district in England famous for making earthenware and English bone china. The mark that Sampson Smith used when this cup was made was their Old Royal mark, and with the words "Bone China" dates the cup from 1930-1941. The pottery closed in 1963.
