This is an original set published in 1938 and they are in Very Good to Excellent Condition. You are buying from one of the largest stockist of cigarette and trade cards in the UK.

On 30th September 1938 British Prime Minister Nevill Chamberlain returned from Munich to a tumultuous welcome with a document signed by Hitler say that we "bring peace with honour". This was the same month that Carreras issued their series of 50 Britain's Defences which includes many aspects of the operation of all three services. No doubt the Government made sure that our preparedness was put in the best light with emphasis on the most modern equipment - much of which was then in woefully short supply - without giving away any secrets to a potential enemy. The cards are exceptionally well-produced with excellent colour pictures backed by highly informative texts. Even today when we look back at this kind of set we can sense the unease about what the immediate future held in store. Fortunately, certain "ultra-modern developments" not included in the series were to tip the balance of war in our favour. These are well worth adding to any collection. Size 68 x 36mm.
Number of cards in set: 50
