The 2nd Collection of French Company Felix Potin cards were believed to be distributed with candy in the 1908 timeframe.  The issue includes over 500 cards of different celebrities, including at least 10 cards related to very early auto racing.  The cards are roughly 1.5" x 2.75" and have a blank back.  The front of the card is similar to a photo, and the paper stock is thinner than a traditional sports card.

This card features Rene de Knyff and is in very good condition with no creases.  Pictures were taken to assist with the condition and content of the card.

Rene de Knyff was born in 1865 and retired from racing in 1905.  He competed in about 20 automobile races from the mid 1890s until 1905.  He won five of the events outright driving the Panhard & Levassor vehicle.  He finished second in the 1903 Gordon Bennett Cup.

Rene de Knyff was the President of the Commission Sportive Internationale (CSI) from its creation in 1922 until 1946.  The CSI is now known as the FIA, the governing body for Formula One and many other racing organizations.
