Frame Stamped "AO 1/10-12KGF."  American Optical, 1/10 12K Gold Filled.

Nice scrollwork design on front bridge and sides of frame.

Lenses are glass bifocals mounted in a rimless (half rim or semi rim) frame.

Case is leather with a hinged spring mechanism.  Soft purple velvet lined case.  Inside of case has a metal emblem stating "A. C. Elliott, M.D.  Eye, Ear, Nose, Throat  Anaheim, California"  

We are unsure of what the nose pieces are made of.  It appears to be some sort of early plastic, bakelite, or shell such as mother of pearl.

Measuring across the top from outside hinge to hinge is 4.5" (maximum width of the glasses)

Maximum depth from lenses to back of ear curve of frame is about 4-1/4"

Lenses in inches are about 1-3/4" wide x 1-1/2" tall, bifocal magnified portion is about 7/8" wide x 9/16" tall

Lenses are about 45mm wide at the widest part, and 40mm tall at the tallest part when I hold a ruler behind them.

Height of ear curve on the frame is 1-3/4" 

This is a nice low profile (slim) glasses and case to fit in a shirt or coat pocket.  Case is 5-14" long x 2-1/4" wide x 3/4" thick at the rear.  We have seen similar glasses from American Optical attributed to the 1920s to 1940s.  These glasses are old enough that the tops of the rims and the nose bridge are separate wires.

Used, as-is.  Glasses are in good condition.  No chipouts or cracks.  Screws are present.  Nose piece mounts have some green oxidation on the pins (not on the gold filled wire, just on the pins to the nose pieces).  Case has wear, marks and scratches.  See attached pictures.
