Description: [Spy thriller] FIRST BOOK CLUB EDITION. Octavo (19 x 13cm), pp.184. Publisher's mid-blue cloth lettered in black to the spine, in pictorial dust-wrapper illustrated by Cuthill. One copy with regular (blank) endpapers, the other misbound without flyleaf (never present, ie not removed), so half title acts as free endpaper. Lightly handled copies, some light foxing, minor wear to jackets, etc. Very good copies. 70,000 copies were printed, a lower number than the Jonathan Cape first edition run. This unusual pair is from the comprehensive archive assembled by Jon Gilbert (pencil signature within). His encyclopaedic guide to the works of Ian Fleming (2012) won the 16th Breslauer Prize for bibliography.
