Great Collection Of OLD & RARE Magazines

The paper was founded in 1915 by a Chicago printing company as a regional trade paper for exhibitors in the Midwest. In 1917, editor Martin Quigley bought the paper and over the following decades developed the Exhibitors Herald into an important national trade paper for the film industry. In 1917, Quigley acquired and merged with MOTOGRAPHY.

In 1927, he acquired and merged The Moving Picture World and began publishing as Exhibitors' Herald and Moving Picture World, which was later shortened to the more manageable title, Exhibitors' Herald World. After acquiring Motion Picture News in 1930, he merged these publications into the Motion Picture Herald.

The magazine provides an invaluable source of information from the silent-film era. Many of the films were lost and trade journals like the Exhibitors Herald entail plot synopses, new releases, reviews, information on actors, directors, writers, producers, etc., production, photographs and many illustrations, as well as stunning graphic advertisements.

Each issue includes the classic column "What the Picture did for Me" (Verdicts on films in language of exhibitor ), in which theater owners from across the country share their experiences of every release.

Profusely illustrated with reproductions of photographs of artists such as Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Mary Pickford, Gloria Swanson, Douglas Fairbanks, Norma Talmadge, John Barrymore, D. W. Griffith, Harold Lloyd, Fay Wray, Norma Shearer, Lon Chaney, James Cruze, William Powell, Victor Fleming, Billy Butts, Anna Q. Nilsson, Victor McLaglen, William Boyd, Rudolph Schildkraut, Dolores Del Rio, Ernst Lubitsch, John Ford, Josef von Sternberg, Donald Crisp, Lewis Milestone, Eric von Stroheim, and many others.

Includes many movie advertisements in rich vibrant colors, some with photomontages, others in drawings.
