This vest is made of a series of steel plates placed inside the green canvas body. It is designed to cover and protect the wearer's torso. It is placed around the neck and attaches using its two cotton straps and its two metal rings on each side.

The lapel of the vest has a sewn-in label which also serves as a pocket in which a protective amulet is placed.

The inscriptions on the label indicate:

安藤式護身用 (Ando-style body protection)
鐵胴着 (Iron Torso Garment)
案新要匠登録 (Registration of the new model)
______ ・______
謹製 (Made respectfully / Produced with care)
東亞工業研究所 (East Asian Industrial Research Institute)

The inscriptions on the paper that wraps the amulet indicate:
戰捷御守 (War Amulet)

The dimensions of the vest are approximately 47 x 35cm.

This type of vest was purchased privately, probably by officers during the 30s/40s.

There are different models and variations, but they are very difficult to find. This one is in very good condition.
