This BioFilter system was designed to keep pool water clear through the winter. It can support fish, as we have, or simply maintain high water quality on its own. The basic kit requires a minimum water depth of 45 cm, while the directional flow attachment and surface skimmer work best at a water depth of 60–75 cm. If your pool or pond is deeper, extensions are available for purchase.

The basic kit consists of the BioFilter bucket, 3d printed parts, wool type filter media and adapter for UV light.


Need to purchase additional items to complete:


  • 8 kg of river stones or gravel for pond or water features (make sure it’s washed before use). From B&Q for £11 or local gardening supplies.

  • Air pump 4w 3-4 L/min. This can be purchased from Amazon or eBay.
