Antique HAVILAND & Co. Limoges, France "Moss Rose" China with Thick Gold Trim. Pattern Description: Haviland & Co., Rose Center, Thick Gold Trim & Verge. Smooth Edge. The bowls in this set all have the Cable Finials and Handles. Made in Limoges, France. Maker's Marks & Dating: This set has a pair of marks the first being a Haviland & Co. manufacturer's Mark for the blanks and then a second being the decorator's mark. There are a couple of versions of the manufacturer's marks in this set, both green underglaze "H & Co." marks: One has H & Co. double underlined; this mark, designated as Mark D dates the manufacture of these blanks to ca. 1876 until 1886. The second manufacturer's mark is "H & Co." with a single underline and the letter "L" below; this is Mark F and dated to 1876 until 1889. Finally, the decorator's mark is an overglazed 'donut' mark with "HAVILAND & Co. - LIMOGES" between two circles. This decorator's mark, known as Mark g, dates to 1879 until 1889. Condition: Very good antique condition. There are no chips, cracks or crazing. Light shelf wear and light utensil marks may be present. Light to moderate wear to the gold trim. See photos.
