AN 18TH CENTURY BRASS BARBER'S BLEEDING BOWL (ORIGINAL AND RARE ITEM)

A really good and rare example of the type of bowl - not easy to find.

There is a lot written on the subject of barbers doubling up as surgeons for blood letting 

until as late as the 19th century (the red/white striped pole outside barbers' shops still representing blood and bandaging).

A good used example in original condition commensurate with age, it has denting, buckling and fractures to the folded rim as to be expected. It has not been polished so has a dull original finish showing age and patina.

Measurements: 23.5 cm across (bowl itself 13 cm across), 5.5 cm high
