CONDITION:  Clean, light crazing in the glaze and darkening to the back side, natural occurrence to antique majolica ceramic wares.

This majolica ceramic oyster plate was produced in Stoke-on-Trent, England by S. Fielding & Co. in 1878.  It measures 9 1/8 inches in diameter.  There are 6 compartments for shells and a center salt dip.  The shell compartments are a brilliant turquoise blue.  Strands of olive green seaweed, with cranberry red and yellow tips, separate the shells.  They are molded in high relief.  The rim has olive green rope trim.  The back has 6 clam shells that serve as feet. The dazzling color excites the eye.  #E929
