Vintage DUCHESS Bone China Multicolored Floral Amber Shape #344 Salad Plates. Made in England. Three plates are available and are priced per plate.

Pattern Description: Bone China, Large and Small Multicolor Floral Sprays, Amber Shape, Gold Trim. Made in England. This pattern is discontinued.

Note:
the floral pattern is identical to Pattern #399, made in a smooth edge, rather than this Amber Shape. I have a second EBAY listing elsewhere for the sale of one these #399 salad plates.

Company History: Duchess China is actually a trade name used by A. T. Finney (& Sons Ltd after 1947), a manufacturer of earthenware and bone china. Finney began operations around 1917, and acquired the Blue Bell Pottery in 1921 and later at the Duchess China Works and Blyth Works, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, England. The business continued as family concern until 1989 when A. T. Finney was acquired by the newly formed Tams Group. The brand name 'Duchess China' was continued by Tams.

Maker's Mark: The plate has a printed Gold mark with a Crown (but no laurels) over "DUCHESS - BONE CHINA - ENGLAND - 344". This is one of several variations on the standard marks used beginning in the 1960's.
Only one of the three plates has the pattern number 344 printed as part of the back stamp.

Measurements: Each plate is 8-1/4" in Width.

Condition: Excellent condition. There are no chips, cracks, crazing or repairs. Light wear to the gold trim and light utensil marks may be present. See photos.
