Description: Tillandsia ionantha 'Fuego' ex. RFI is a cultivar of T. ionantha originally sourced from Rainforest Flora of California, USA. We find this form tends to have more succulent leaves when compared to some of the finer leafed Fuego. It also seems to be a bit more compact than our 'Thai Fuego'.

Aptly named from the Spanish word for 'Fire', this plant when in bloom blushes a vibrant Fire Truck red! This enables the plant to attract hummingbirds which help to pollinate its flowers. This plant has narrow, tubular flowers which rise from the foliage and are a deep purple. Like other ionantha varieties, it produces multiple offsets over time to become a large cluster.
