August 10th 1918 Ship Arrived Safely Card
This letter is hand written by Private Orion Hess, US Army. He wrote it while stationed at the Meade Branch Training Camp in Baltimore, MD.
Private Hess writes about artillery practice, and then how some of his unit is being transferred to infantry. He also writes about passing rifle inspection two times. He writes about a choir from Baltimore, Maryland performing at the YMCA. He goes on writing about trying to get a pass to come home.
A little over a month later, Private Hess was sent to Europe, and arrived safely overseas by ship, as the August 10th American Expeditonary Forces correspondence reads. We know he was stationed in France by other letters he mailed home.
A very interesting and collectible WW1 hand written letter with envelope.
THANKS for looking.
