Please email with any questions. Framed 8x10 sepia photo of boxer William "Young" Stribling, circa 1930 by Achille Volpe in New York CIty, known for his photos of performers. Photo is marked by the photographer on the plate and is also stamped on the back. The photo is missing the lower right corner of the margin, thumbtack holes along the margin, small tear center top that includes the image, some sort of splashed stain lower left. The easel back frame is 1940's in vintage, made of light colored wood with a steam pressed pattern on the surface. Stribling died tragically in 1933, at age 28, as a result of a motorcycle accident on the way to visit his wife and newborn son at a Macon Hospital. What a handsome man and a very compelling photograph.
