The number one application I can see for this lens is that it is a perfect spot for someone new to the Minolta Maxxum A-mount system to get a solid Zoom lens into their kit.

The lens will fit any native Minolta A-mount mount without the need of any adaptor.

This lens might also fit other cameras, even modern ones, with an adapter that can be had for cheap.
