Fully restored - Fantastic New Professional Paint (correctly matched to the original; which is polar blue - white with a hint of blue - not rattle canned!). New Decals (completely matched to the originals), blue pinstripping hand applied (How many Pro Ams do you see in pure white with no pinstripes?) New gear and brake wires, new amber walled Raleigh Classic tyres and inner tubes, new toe straps, all bearings fully regreased.
Spec is how it would of come from the factory in 1980, 12 speed Sun Tour VX derailleurs, SunTour ratchet levers, Weinmann brakes, Weinmann brake levers, Raleigh branded crank (actually SR), Raleigh seat pin and bar stem (again I believe was actually SR) atom 600 pedals, Christophe toeclips and brand new straps; all components period correct. The officianardos will notice the handle bar tape is original (good luck finding that on a 40 year old Pro Am! - there was slight grazing to one side which has been repaired (see final 2 pics), the saddle is original (again many saddles have been scuffed or lost their suede finish - this had a light tare in the suede that has been repaired and virtually invisible- see pics - the black has faded a little with age), the wheels are not original; front is brand new Wobler rim with a nice period correct looking wide Normandy hub with chrome double butted spokes, the rear is a Sachs hub with (I believe - no visible branding) a Sachs rim and freewheel (and again chrome double butted spokes).
No rust, dents or scratches. Ready to ride. Rides fantastic, everything works. I would stick my neck out and say this is the nicest and most original Pro Am you will find on the market today.
Buy the bike you could never have when you were younger. Fully ready for L'Eroica. Also a great investment.
Pick up preferred from Chester area (this is ideal as you see the bike, if you are happy you can pay and take away). However I will courier at cost price, to mainland UK (Ireland, Scotland and other outlaying areas please ask first for a quote); but please note although I wrap the bike extremely well with lots of bubble wrap and use a reputable courier, damage or components coming loose is always a possibility (although it will be insured). The bike will also need to be slightly deconstructed to get in the bike box (front wheel removed, saddle removed, handle bars removed - so if you are a complete bike virgin and need a bike shop to put this back, this is not for you). Please also note eBay automatically puts in 3-5 working days for the courier - this cannot be met as I can only start to wrap the bike once I know someone is not picking it up in person, then I can book a courier, then it will probably take 3-5 days (so I estimate allow c 10 working days in total). This is also a 40 year old bike and although it looks nearly new, it will not ride like a new carbon bike, and may (like a classic car) need more maintenance than a brand new bike (so don't buy if this is what you want - but if you want the coolest retro vintage bike around then this is definitely for you). Please also supply an email and telephone number if you require a courier - as I need these to book it in.
Any none payers will be reported to ebay, you are bidding to buy (sorry in advance to genuine ebayers). No returns unfortunately due to size of item (hence pick up preferred - so you see the bike in person). Stupid offers and silly questions will be ignored - some unrestored tatty Pro Ams are going for £100-£250, see if you can get one restored to this level for the difference I am asking
Any further questions please ask. Thanks.
